Course Description
Our Traffic Control and Management course gives you the knowledge and practical skills to effectively coordinate traffic and ensure the safety of your coworkers, fellow traffic controllers, motorists and other road users.
Learn across a wide range of skills and responsibilities, including:
- Correctly directing motorists using a stop/slow bat;
- Assessing and responding to changes in road conditions;
- Implementing risk assessments for worker safety;
- Preparing vehicle management plans;
- Monitoring the flow of vehicles;
- Storing and maintaining equipment and signage; and
- Communicating effectively using a variety of devices.

Pre-Requisites
This is an entry-level course and there are no educational prerequisites or prior qualifications necessary to enroll.
- Participants must be at least 14 years of age to complete the course.
- Must be able to complete a basic LLN
- Must provide 100 points of identification.
- Must hold a current white card

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be provided with a wallet card and statement of attainment.
Education Pathways
After successful completion of this training you may want to consider completing your First Aid training.
Assessment Process
The assessment process will involve both theoretical and practical analysis of the student. Assessment of practical performance will be done by direct observation from an assessor in real time.
Practical assessment will be conducted in a simulated real-life context relevant to the training. It may involve tasks such as: using a stop-slow bat to coordinate pedestrian traffic; communicating with industry-standard equipment; implementing a traffic lane closure; and identifying and reporting construction hazards.
Theoretical assessment involves demonstrating knowledge of key concepts, such as: risk assessment processes and control hierarchies; site and equipment safety requirements; traffic management legislations; and duty of care.
