Course Description
Participants will demonstrate competency in the following areas:
- Pre-operational and shutdown checks
- Skilled operation of the excavator in various site conditions
- Material handling and attachment use
- Operator maintenance
- Relocation and housekeeping tasks
- Operator-level maintenance and site cleanup
Units and Certification
RIIMPO320F – Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations
- On successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and a competency card
Course Delivery
- Pre-course learner guide and workbook provided upon enrolment
- 1-day intensive practical and theory assessment session
- Delivered at CTA training facilities or onsite (for group bookings)
Pre-Requisites
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants will be required to undertake pre-course reading and complete an activity book to ensure an understanding of the learning content that will be reviewed in the class contact time. These materials will be supplied to the students upon enrolment and payment of the course.
- This course is intended for applicants with prior excavator operating experience, as the training focuses on recognition of existing skills and competency assessment.
- CTA Create Train Achieve does not have CRICOS accreditation and is unable to train students on an ‘International Student’ VISA.
Education Pathways
Graduates may continue their training with further qualifications such as:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations
- Certificate III in Landscape Construction
- Certificate III in Rural Operations
Assessment Process
The Excavator course incorporates a variety of assessment tasks throughout and may include:
- Practical demonstration of operating skills
- Written and/or oral questioning
