Assessment Process
The forklift course assessment process will involve both theoretical and practical analysis of the student. Assessment of practical performance will be done by direct observation from an assessor in real time.
Practical assessment will be conducted in a simulated real-life context relevant to the training. It may involve tasks such as: carrying out pre-start and operational checks; conducting and applying risk and hazard assessment strategies; determining relevant lifting attachments and requirements; and securely driving, reversing and parking a forklift truck.
Theoretical assessment in the forklift training course involves demonstrating knowledge of key concepts, such as industry standards and guidelines for safe operation; communication procedures; potential hazards and equipment faults; and the safe use of different attachments.
**How long does a forklift licence last?**
It is recommended that professionals undergo a forklift refresher course every five years to renew forklift licence certifications. This helps avoid forklift licence expiry and ensures they are well-equipped to handle anything in a safe and efficient manner. Forklift licence renewal ensures that all of our work sites and staff remain safe.
