Course Description
This entry-level course builds a strong foundation in scissor lift operation. You will learn how to:
- Plan and prepare for scissor lift tasks, including hazard identification and risk controls
- Conduct pre-operational checks, compliance plate and load chart interpretation
- Operate the scissor lift safely under 11m, including travel, positioning and controls
- Follow emergency procedures and site-specific safety requirements
- Shut down and secure equipment after use
Units and Certification
RIIHAN301E – Operate elevating work platform (under 11m)
- On successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment which is recognised nationally.
Course Delivery
- Combination of theory and practical sessions using industry-standard equipment
- Delivered at CTA training facilities or onsite (for group bookings)
Pre-Requisites
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- CTA Create Train Achieve does not have CRICOS accreditation and is unable to train students on an ‘International Student’ VISA.
Education Pathways
Graduates may continue their training with further qualifications such as:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Higher EWP (over 11m) High Risk Work Licences
- Other WHS and OHS qualifications
Assessment Process
The “Scissor Lift / EWP (under 11m)” course incorporates a variety of assessment tasks throughout and may include:
- Practical demonstrations, observation of skills and safe work practices
- Written and/or oral questioning
