Course Description
For entry-level students on the hunt for order picker forklift training, our course gives you the knowledge and practice to confidently apply for order picker jobs and get to work.
Learn across a wide range of skills and responsibilities, including:
- Safe operation of a load-shifting order picker forklift in a warehouse environment.
- Correctly calculating safe load limits and dealing with unexpected events.
- Proper assessment of the safety of a forklift and how to handle it.
- Travelling safely whilst loaded and unloaded.
- Rules and regulations around forklift operation.

TLILIC0004 – Licence to Operate an Order Picking Forklift Truck
Course Delivery
This LO licence course is conducted over 2 consecutive days with a combination of face-to-face theoretical learning and simulated environments, giving you the best opportunity to put what you learn into practice.
Get your forklift licence in Melbourne, with training currently delivered at our 17 Keppel Drive, Hallam, VIC, 3803
Students completing this course are required to complete pre-learning study material at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of training. These materials will be provided by CTA via email upon enrolment.
Pre-Requisites
This is an entry-level course and there are no educational prerequisites or prior qualifications necessary to enrol and earn your LO forklift ticket.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age for forklift licence training, and must provide 100 points of identification.

Once you have successfully completed your TLILIC0004 unit and become forklift certified, you may seek to undertake some of the following courses:
Assessment Process
The forklift course assessment process will involve both theoretical and practical analysis of the student. Assessment of practical performance will be done by direct observation from an assessor in real time.
Practical assessment will be conducted in a simulated real-life context relevant to the training. It may involve tasks such as: carrying out pre-start and operational checks; conducting and applying risk and hazard assessment strategies; determining relevant lifting attachments and requirements; and securely driving, reversing and parking a forklift truck.
Theoretical assessment involves demonstrating knowledge of key concepts, such as: industry standards and guidelines for safe operation; communication procedures; potential hazards and equipment faults; and the safe use of different attachments.
Career Pathways
Once students have successfully completed the course, they will be competent in both driving and handling a forklift truck and the safety and compliance knowledge required for employment. The following jobs are achievable from completing this unit:
