Course Description
Introduction
The Short Term/Low Impact (STLI) course is intended for individuals who perform tasks on worksites classified as short-term and low-risk. These sites are typically of limited duration and present minimal disruption, allowing work to be completed without the need for a static traffic control setup, as determined by a site-specific risk assessment.
STLI tasks are temporary in nature and pose low safety risks, which means they can be carried out without formally accredited traffic controllers. These activities are guided by simplified Traffic Guidance Schemes and are authorised through appropriate on-site risk assessments that confirm static control measures are unnecessary.
This course is non-accredited and is not associated with a national unit of competency.
Determining When STLI Traffic Management is Appropriate:
If the activity involves large-scale works, such as deep excavation or major construction lasting several hours or days, a static traffic management setup with barriers would typically be required (refer to AGTTM Part 3), making it unsuitable for STLI.
In contrast, small-scale tasks (e.g., patching potholes or clearing vegetation) that are completed quickly or at multiple locations may be suitable for a mobile short-term, low-impact setup (as outlined in AGTTM Part 4).
This course may be relevant to roles such as (but not limited to):
- Vegetation Maintenance Crews
- Roadside Mowing Operators
- Graffiti Removal Technicians Concrete Pumping Operators
- Non-Destructive Excavation (NDD) Technicians
- Building and Construction Workers
- Surveying Professionals
