Course Description
Our Work Safely at Heights unit will prepare you to:
- Understand regulations and legislation
- Australian Standards knowledge
- Risk assessment and hazard elimination
- Equipment selection and use
- Anchor systems, selecting solid and reliable anchorage
- Fall restraint systems, selection of equipment and correct use
- Work positioning systems, selection of equipment and correct use
- Fall arrest systems
- Using energy absorbing lanyards
- Correct use of ladders and ladder safety training
Units and Certification
RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights
- On successful completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment which is recognised nationally.
Course Delivery
- Combination of theory and practical sessions using industry-standard equipment
- Delivered at CTA training facilities or onsite (for group bookings)
Pre-Requisites
- Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.
- CTA Create Train Achieve does not have CRICOS accreditation and is unable to train students on an ‘International Student’ VISA.
Education Pathways
Graduates may continue their training with further qualifications such as:
- Certificate III in Landscape Construction
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Additional WHS and OHS qualifications
Assessment Process
The “Working at Heights” course incorporates a variety of assessment tasks throughout and may include:
- Practical demonstrations, observation of skills and safe work practices
- Written and/or oral questioning
Career Pathways
Once students have completed the course, they will be competent in Working Safely at Heights. The following jobs are achievable from completing this unit:

- Window Cleaner
- Roofing
- Tree Lopping
- Sign Writing
